2012/06 - Jim Clark Rally (0 images) - created by Adge on 09/03/2012 at 13:39:19
Last weekend saw the Adgespeed rally team of Adrian and Mark on the Jim Clark Rally, held in the Scottish borders around Kelso and Duns. The rally started on the friday night with 2 spectator stages through Duns town centre, which was interesting blasting around the local streets and hitting 100 mph, wouldn't get away with that during the week. Steady runs through the stages saw Adrian and Mark finish 28th O/A up from their seeding of 46, but with the meat of the rally on the saturday nothing was to be taken for granted.

Saturday morning and the crews headed off for the 1st stage of the day Abbey St Bathans, a daunting 16 miles of twisty single track roads and flat out A roads. A steady run but not quick due to Adrian being a bit rusty and then catching a car in the stage, which took ages to get out of the way, but at least the stage was completed without any problems. However disaster was to strike, when on driving along the road section after the stage the car suddenly stopped. On investigation a problem with the cam belt was spotted and the car was going no further.

On returning back to base it was discovered that a cam pulley had broken which had then damaged the cam timing belt causing the engine to stop. A disappointing end to the rally and the team are now investigating the problem and getting it fixed. Due to the problem, the team are now missing the next 2 rounds and hope to be back out for the Tyneside Stages mid July.
